The MIT Global Startup Labs (GSL) program empowers young entrepreneurs by exporting MIT best practices for catalyzing startups. Through this program, MIT partners with local entities - typically a university host and corporate sponsor - to deliver a comprehensive course focused on mobile technologies and entrepreneurship. The GSL team, led by four MIT student-instructors, provides a real-world technology venture experience, mentoring local participants through the development stages of a startup while teaching appropriate technical platform skills.
Components of the course include a detailed entrepreneurship and technical curriculum, funded business competitions, guest lectures, and networking events. All activities are designed to help local participants develop their ideas and realize the commercial possibilities of their technologies.
Since 2000, 170 MIT instructors have taught more than 2000 students in fourteen countries through the GSL program, resulting in the creation of technology startup businesses, the transfer of teaching skills, and the addition of course offerings at our partner universities.
