This UT Austin site has an extensive collection of brief video clips in which native Spanish speakers from throughout Latin America and Spain discuss various topics, demonstrating differences in pace and regional dialects. The clips cover 6 proficiency levels, with the vocabulary, grammar, and topics progressively increasing in complexity. The goal of the exercises is to give Spanish language learners the tools (vocabulary, phrases, grammar) to be able to talk about the same topics in Spanish. Students also hear how same-topic discussions compare and contrast among speakers from different countries .
For each topic, a simplified example is given in which the speaker talks more slowly and uses simpler words. Several native speaker examples follow; students can follow along with transcripts in Spanish or English, or with no transcript at all. Each topic also offers a list of related vocabulary, phrases, grammar, and podcasts.
This is an incredible resource that helps you test and improve your own proficiency while getting an ear for regional dialects.
Accents Library: Collection of downloadable passages in Spanish and Arabic on a variety of topics that illustrate regional speech variations. Spanish accents include those in Chile, Peru, and Argentina.
Phone Conversations: Collection of casual phone conversations in Spanish dialects including Argentine and Peruvian.
